We are delighted to be opening 4 more shows for the magnificent Sam Lee and his beautiful band (they are over from London, truly fantastic and unique - not to be missed) in the North East- we started out at the Columbus Theatre in Providence last night - where Ida learned how to drive Priscilla The Dream Machine- tonight we play the courtyard of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, then onto Joe’s Pub in NYC on July 30th, The Tin Angel in Philly July 31st, and Jammin’ Java in the DC (Vienna, VA) area on August 2nd.
It has been a marvelous festival season so far (a big thanks to Camp Out For the Cause, Redwood Mountain Faire, Marquette Waterfront Festival, The Soup, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Riversong Music Festival, and California WorldFest for the inspiring times and superb hospitality!) and it is still far from over...After these shows with Sam we head out to Saskatchewan for the Regina Folk Festival, then to Wisconsin for Fishstock in Fish Creek with JT and the Clouds, then up to Ontario for Windsong Music Festival, Eaglewood Folk Festival, and the Shelter Valley Folk Festival, then out to New Mexico for Pickamania!, Nashville, TN for the Americana Music Festival and Conference, then to North Adams, MA for FreshGrass at MassMoca, and finally back to California for Beaverstock at Castoro Cellars on the Central Coast.
We will be celebrating the end of a halcyon summer and the beginning of a blazing autumn with a special show at one of our bucket list venues - San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall - on September 24th with very special guests, brilliant performers, and dear friends Steve Poltz and John Elliot - curated and promoted by the great KC Turner Presents. We are very excited for this one and hope that all of our beloved Bay Area friends can join us… bring a friend, bring 10 friends- and be prepared for Steve to make you laugh, cry, and wet yourself all at the same time…
We are also thrilled to announce that we have been invited back to Cayamo in 2016- it is an amazing music festival on a really big boat. We are deeply honoured that we get to play alongside such luminaries and musical heroes as John Prine, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, John Hiatt, Jason Isbell, Shawn Colvin and so many more...and it will be no hardship to escape Chicago in February and sail the Caribbean Sea! The Ship is full but there is a waiting list, and last minute cancellations have been known to happen...
Our upcoming record Real Midnight, produced by the inimitable and ever inspiring Joe Henry, has now been mixed and will soon be mastered by jedi/ninja engineer Ryan Freeland- we are working on the album sequencing, the artwork, and fulfilling all the Kickstarter rewards. We are plotting the best way to release it into the wilds with our intrepid manager Jimmy Rhine at Five Head Entertainment … We are champing at the bit to share this music with you all (Kickstarter folks will get it first of course- and our gratitude forever!) but are having to learn wisdom and patience from Jimmy, in order to give it the best possible send up - it looks like early next year - late January/early February- will be the release date- and our manager has a few irons in the fire that we are not at liberty to discuss yet- but we’ll keep you posted… in the meantime we’ll be playing lots of the new tunes live and seeing you down the road somewhere soon.
We hope this update finds you and your family and your friends, human and otherwise, thriving and staying cool
wishing you all much love, peace, music, health, and happiness
Alli, JT, Ida and the whole BOC family
